Biography
Ravil Ashirmametov is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), working under the supervision of Professor Gilles Lubineau. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan, where he developed a strong background in computational mechanics, nanomaterials, and data-driven materials design. His research experience spans molecular dynamics, machine learning, optimization, and numerical modeling, with applications in advanced two-dimensional materials and nanostructures. He has contributed to research on functionalized graphene, electromagnetic interactions of nanotubes, and nanocomposite adhesive systems, resulting in publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Research Interests
My current research interest focuses on the multiscale computational mechanics via parallel utilization of HPC, machine learning, optimization and experimental approaches. I want to contribute to the understanding of transition between nanoscale configurations and bulk-scale material behavior in the context of advanced composite structures using ML, inverse problems and simulations.
Professional Profile
Ravil’s professional interests lie at the
intersection of computational mechanics, materials science, and artificial
intelligence. His previous research has involved developing machine-learning
models and optimization strategies for tailoring the thermomechanical
properties of functionalized graphene, supported by large-scale molecular
dynamics simulations using high-performance computing. His current focus lies
between data-driven design and optimization for multiscale composite mechanics
for advanced energy and structural health monitoring applications.
