The Composite Lab organized the KAUST Research Conference in the field of Composite Materials for Energy applications. This forum brought together high-caliber academics, engineers, and industrial partners to discuss the latest developments in relevant topics. These included: Integrity Management of Pipes, Large Scale Composites, Monitoring and Inspection, Multifunctional Composites, Composites for Hydrogen.
The workshop the theme of “Shaping the future with composite materials”. This workshop provides a high-level forum to discuss the latest development of composite science and technology. The covid pandemic made events take place online, nevertheless the workshop was enabled a number of high-caliber professors, researchers, engineers and industry practitioners to shared their knowledge, expertise and experience in their respective fields of expertise.
Prof. John Botsis, Institute Director of Mechanical Engineering at EPFL, discussed his latest research on Mode-I fracture of carbon/epoxy composites with postdocs and Ph.D. students at MCEM Laboratory.
Faisal Kamal and Mohammed Almulhim, students at MCEM, are working on the optimization of processing techniques for SABIC products under the supervision of Dr. Arief Yudhanto, Dr. Matthieu Mulle, and Prof. Gilles Lubineau. This collaboration was with the SABIC Plastic Applications Development Center.
International Workshop on Computational and Experimental Mechanics of Advanced Materials (CEMAM) took place at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia, on July 1-3, 2013.
