In-situ testing experiments for hydrogen storage materials at the SESAME Synchrotron Light Source

15 October, 2025

We’re thrilled to share that following the prestigious grant from the SESAME Synchrotron Light Source, our team members Dr. Ahmed Wagih, Hassan Mahmoud, and Karim Chouchen have successfully completed in-situ testing experiments for hydrogen storage materials!

Leveraging SESAME’s powerful beamline capabilities, we were able to observe, in real time, the behavior of thin-ply CF/PA6 composites under mechanical loading for the Type V hydrogen storage tank. These results provide critical insights that bring us a step closer to developing next-generation, high-performance hydrogen storage systems, key to accelerating the global transition to clean energy.

A heartfelt thank you to SESAME for enabling this groundbreaking research and to KAUST for its continued support in advancing cutting-edge materials science. We’re excited to continue collaborating with the SESAME team and pushing the frontiers of hydrogen technology.
