Xiaole Li presented his work at the 23rd International Conference on Composite Materials (ICCM) in Belfast

06 August, 2023

ICCM23 is the premier international conference in the field of composite materials.

Xiaole Li also presented his work titled: "Snap-back instability of laminated composites bridged by Z-reinforcements." This work talks about how processing through-thickness reinforcement z-pin and stitching may significantly increase the interlaminar fracture toughness of laminated composites. The present work focuses on the snap-back instability when the bridging force of z-reinforcements starts to be decreasing during the delamination of laminated composites. We aim to gain insight into the toughening mechanism and the snap-back instability that may guide the design in the context of interface toughening by z-reinforcements.

ICCM 23 attracted leading researchers and practitioners to report and exchange ideas on the latest developments in advancing and exploiting a wide range of composites materials and structures. The conference was held in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from July 30th to August 4th, 2023
