Research Interests

Dr. Bera is currently working on the Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) for non-invasive health monitoring of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) laminates, and Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS)-based CFRP characterization.

His major research interests include:
  • Nondestructive Testing (NDT): Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) for noninvasive health monitoring of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) laminations. Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) based CFRP material characterization, EIT based fabric pressure sensing, EIT based underground pipe leakage detection.
  • Biomedical Imaging: Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT), Multifrequency Electrical Impedance Tomography (mfEIT), Frequency Difference Electrical Impedance Tomography (fdEIT), Medical Imaging, Diagnostic Imaging, Computed Tomography and image reconstruction for noninvasive clinical diagnosis, Medical and biomedical image processing and analysisInverse Problems: Inverse Problems, Electromagnetic Inverse Problems, Inverse Problems for Biomedical Applications, Inverse Problems and Regularization Techniques 
  • Computed Tomography for Nondestructive Testing: Computed Tomography for nondestructive testing (NDT), Computed Tomography for nondestructive evaluation of damage or cracks in materials, Electrical resistivity imaging for nondestructive testing (NDT) in industrial applications.
  • Biomedical Signal Processing: Physiological and bioelectrical signals acquisition, processing and analysis, high speed data acquisition system using LabVIEW for biomedical applications, PC based medical and biomedical instrumentation for modern healthcare systems, Biomedical signal acquisition using RF transmission techniques, wireless health monitoring systems
  • Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis: Electrical Impedance Plethysmography, Electrical Impedance Cardiography, Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy, Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, Mathematical modeling of bioelectrical impedance, electrical impedance myography (EIM) for tissue characterization, Dielectrical phenomena in biological media, Electroporation.
