Research Interests

  • Peridynamic Methods: Numerical implementation and software design on peridynamics; application of peridynamics for heterogeneous and composite materials.
  • Multi-scale and Coupling Methods: Mathematical multi-scale methods based on asymptotic expansion homogenization theory for periodic, quasi-periodic or random structures; coupling methods of micro-scale, meso-scale and macro-scale models.
  • Mechanics of Heterogeneous Composite Materials: Carbon nanotube reinforced composites, particles or short fibers reinforced composites, porous materials and 3-D braided composites; the effects of microstructures, inclusions and interphase properties on the macro-mechanical behaviors, including stiffness, strength, damage and fracture.
  • Numerical Algorithms and Programming: Efficient numerical techniques; high performance parallel computing; programming technique and software design.
