Postdoctoral Fellow

PhD, MS (Universitat de Girona), BS (Zagazig University)

Dr. Ahmed Wagih Abdel Hady, an assistant professor at Zagazig University (Egypt), is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at COHMAS Laboratory, King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST). He obtained his Ph.D degree from Girona University, Spain. His research interest is experimental investigation, and analytical and numerical simulation of composite materials/structures (polymer matrix composites and metal matrix nanocomposites).

Research Interest

  • Mechanics of composite materials: including damage in isotropic, orthotropic and anisotropic materials, fracture mechanics, homogenization techniques, micro- and macro-mechanical modeling and stress analysis of complex structures.
  • Manufacturing and characterization of new nanocomposites. This include manufacturing metal and polymer matrix nanocomposites and their characterization (tensile, compression, bending, indentation, mode I, II and mixed mode fracture toughness, translaminar fracture toughness and shear testes). Additionally, Mechanical, wear, electrical, thermal and physical properties of these new materials are also included.
  • Chemical modifications of materials for structural applications. This include surface coating of metals ceramics and polymers.

  • Ph.D., Technology (Mechanical Engineering), AMADE, University of Girona, Spain, May 2018
  • M.Sc., Technology (Mechanical Engineering), AMADE, University of Girona, Spain, July 2014
  • B.Sc., Mechanical Design and Production Engineering, Zagazig University, Egypt, May 2011
